The annual battle for North American ski season pass loyalty is underway as Vail Resorts and Alterra Mountain Company announced their spring pricing structures and partner network lineups for the Epic Pass and Ikon Pass.
Both pass giants continue to emphasize early spring purchases by offering lowest-guaranteed down payments, bundled buddy passes, and exclusive lodging discounts that expire after early May deadlines.
Epic Pass Value Proposition
Vail Resorts maintains its competitive price advantage, pricing the full Epic Pass below four-figure thresholds during initial spring sales. The pass grants unlimited, unrestricted access to owned flagship destinations including Whistler Blackcomb, Vail, Breckenridge, and Park City, alongside seven days at independent partner Telluride.
Epic passholders also retain access to Vail Resorts expanded European partner network, including resorts in Switzerland and the French Alps.
Ikon Pass Partner Depth and Pass Tiers
Alterra Mountain Company continues to emphasize independent resort pedigree on the Ikon Pass, offering shared access to destinations including Jackson Hole, Alta, Snowbird, and Big Sky.
Travelers weighing mid-tier options should review holiday restrictions: the Ikon Base Pass enforces blackout dates during Christmas, MLK, and Presidents Day weekends, and excludes select marquee partner resorts unless upgraded to the Base Plus tier.
