This Arizona Mountain Just Put Eight Lift Days on Sale for $1
Arizona Snowbowl targets Nov. 20 with eight $1 lift-ticket days plus $1M-plus upgrades after a first September dusting hit the peaks.

Arizona Snowbowl just gave Flagstaff trip planners a hard date and a headline price. The San Francisco Peaks resort is targeting a November 20, 2026 opening (weather permitting) and has put eight dates on the calendar at $1 lift tickets, while more than half of its scheduled operating days are currently priced at $9 or less for 2026-27.
The dollar days are not a gimmick layered on a stagnant mountain. Snowbowl says it invested more than $1 million ahead of winter, covering a new beginner conveyor, snowmaking upgrades, forest health work aimed at better tree skiing, and RFID access with self-service pickup kiosks for online buyers.
What the dollar tickets actually buy
In 1948, skiers paid $1.50 for unlimited rides on Snowbowl's intermediate rope tow, according to Arizona Highways. Nearly eighty years later, the resort is bringing back $1 tickets on eight selected dates. Eligible advance-purchase tickets also include $10 in Snowbowl Cash for on-mountain spending. Kids 12 and younger can ski free all season on the Power Kids Pass, with no blackout dates and no purchase required.
Demand-based pricing still applies, so the cheapest days go to guests who buy early. For destination skiers comparing Southwest weekends against Utah or Colorado, those $1 and $9 windows matter more than a local season pass pitch. Snowbowl runs its own Power Pass product and is not on Epic, Ikon, Indy, or Mountain Collective.
Beginner path, snowmaking, and clearer trees
A new 150-foot Sunshine conveyor will debut beside the existing Big Spruce and Little Spruce belts. Together with the Aspen Chairlift that opened in 2024, the learning zone now has a clearer path from first turns to lift-served terrain. Four tower guns near Big Spruce are meant to keep that zone covered and to help stitch terrain pods together when natural snow is thin.
Summer forest health work treated roughly 92 acres inside the ski area boundary. Thinning below Spur Catwalk and Midway Catwalk, near Upper and Lower Volcano, and around Sunset Chairlift opened new tree lines while removing dead and downed timber. That is the kind of low-key upgrade day skiers feel in January more than on opening weekend.
A two-inch overnight dusting into September 29 already gave the peaks a first winter look. It will not open lifts by itself, but it pairs with El Niño talk in the Southwest and a concrete November 20 target. For trip planners watching early-season calendars, Snowbowl is suddenly easy to pencil: lock a cheap ticket date, watch the Flagstaff forecast, and treat the San Francisco Peaks as a weekend alternative when the Wasatch is sold out.
